Launch of Alex Hartley's Now Here is Land, a book documenting the artist's large-scale Nowhereisland project
Including a panel discussion at 7pm with Alex Hartley; Claire Doherty, Director of Situations and producer of Nowhereisland; filmmaker and expedition-maker David Bickerstaff; and artist and co-editor of Now Here is Land Tania Kovats.
Nowhereisland is an island that journeyed from the High Arctic region of Svalbard to the southwest coast of England in summer 2012.
Through photographs, writings, and reflections, Now Here is Land records this remarkable work of land art for our time, from Alex Hartley's discovery of the Arctic island in 2004 and its ocean-bound journey around the UK's southwest coast, via political wrangling with governments and the involvement of the nation-state of Nowhereisland's 23,003 citizens, all the way to the island's final act of dispersal into space.
Also on view throughout the evening: premiere of the film NORTH, made by Alex Hartley and David Bickerstaff during the Nowhereisland expedition to the High Arctic.
Plus an opportunity to view the current Victoria Miro exhibition, Alex Hartley: After You Left.
