The artist is an inaugural recipient of the new Joan Mitchell Fellowship, awarded by the Joan Mitchell Foundation.
Speaking about her work, the artist says, 'I create fantastical worlds that explore the intermingling of people and cultures and the relationship between humans and nature. My collages depict spaces of refuge; in them, women rise to meet contemporary challenges in ancient guises, allowing new, hybrid understandings of femininity to emerge.'
