A rare opportunity to see Isaac Julien's celebrated film in its original 16mm format. Looking for Langston is composed of found moving images seamlessly woven into original footage. The narrative orbits the life of poet Langston Hughes (1902 - 67) and his relationship to fellow Harlem Renaissance artists. Its focus on a black, queer experience within the American cultural landscape retains its lyrical urgency and relevance. Following the screening, the artist will be in conversation with Tate curator Zoe Whitley.
