Conrad Shawcross is renowned for mechanical sculptures that bridge the gap between scientific and philosophical inquiry. His practice investigates the geometry of Platonic solids and the ways in which we perceive time.
A pivotal moment in his career occurred during a 2008 visit to the Holmdel Horn Antenna in New Jersey, the historic instrument that identified cosmic microwave background radiation. This experience served as the catalyst for Eye of the Needle (Time Pebble (E30A13)) a work from his ‘Time Pebbles’ series that links the concept of deep time with celestial phenomena.
