'While quite dissimilar tonally, “Touchstone,” a stunning 2021 mosaic on display in the Baltimore Museum of Art’s recently reopened contemporary galleries, illustrates Sikander’s use of visual fragmentation in different mediums.
“What led me to mosaics … was actually animation,” she explained in her lecture at Smith. “It was the dynamism of the pixel that emerged in my mind as a parallel to the unit of a mosaic.”'
