Victoria Miro is delighted to participate in Art Basel Hong Kong (Booth 1C27) with a special presentation of works by Grayson Perry. Additionally we will present new, recent and historical works by Milton Avery, Jules de Balincourt, Hernan Bas, María Berrío, Chantal Joffe, Yayoi Kusama, Celia Paul and Conrad Shawcross.
A number of works by Grayson Perry were created for his major 2025 exhibition Delusions of Grandeur, the largest exhibition of contemporary art ever staged by the Wallace Collection, in which the artist responded to its treasures, generating a new body of work including ceramics, metalwork, tapestry, furniture and textiles.
In making the exhibition, Perry also drew upon aspects of his biography, creating a new persona through which to explore the collection – an artist he named Shirley Smith, whose art revolves around her passionate love for the Wallace Collection. A focal point of our presentation is The Great Beauty, described by Perry as 'a shrine to friendship. This cabinet is an altarpiece which venerates a cast of characters who would go on to populate Shirley’s inner world: lovers and wives from centuries past, immortalised in miniatures in the Wallace Collection…'
