Serpentine and The Royal Parks have just unveiled Yayoi Kusama's tallest bronze pumpkin sculpture to date, installed in Kensington Gardens from 9 July–3 November 2024.
Standing at 6 metres tall and 5.5 metres in diameter, Pumpkin, 2024, is located by the Round Pond, in dialogue with the surrounding environment. Victoria Miro is proud to support this presentation by one of the most significant artists living today, which expands Serpentine's public art programme.
‘I am sending to London with love my giant pumpkin. Since my childhood pumpkins have been a great comfort to me, they are such tender things to touch, so appealing in colour and form. They are humble and amusing at the same time and speak to me of the joy of living.’ — Yayoi Kusama
