27 January - 29 August 2016.
The current hang of The Collection is dedicated to China.
Gallery 4: The exhibition concludes with the installation Ten Thousand Waves by Isaac Julien. This homage to Chinese culture comprises precise references to calligraphy, 1930s cinema and other art forms, and was conceived in collaboration with leading lights of this art scene. Adopting a polyphonic approach, the installation weaves together human interest stories involving Chinese workers with the legend of the Chinese Goddess Mazu, performed by siren of the silver screen Maggie Cheung.
