‘It’s an honour to be part of such an esteemed company of previous winners, which consists of many artists who I greatly admire.’ – Isaac Julien
The exhibition (8 October 2022–29 January 2023) at the Mönchehaus Museum features two important cinematic works by Isaac Julien: Looking for Langston from 1989, which established the artist’s international reputation, and Lessons of the Hour, 2019, one of his most important works in recent years about 19th-century abolitionist Frederick Douglass.
