Stan Douglas is awarded the 2019 Audain Prize for the Visual Arts

This annual prize worth $100,000 is awarded to a senior artist in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the arts.

Vancouver based artist Stan Douglas is one of Canada’s most widely celebrated and internationally important contemporary artists. Best known for his photography, film and video installations, his art often examines the complexities of social reality and history.

Since its establishment in 2004, the Audain Prize has honoured some of Canada’s most influential artists – including Susan Point, Paul Wong, Liz Magor, Gathie Falk and Gordon Smith. The recipient is selected by an independent panel of jurors and announced at the Audain Prize ceremony in September. The Audain Prize is currently administered by the Audain Art Museum.
