Isaac Julien is featured in Strata – Rock – Dust – Stars at York Art Gallery

The exhibition (28 September–25 November 2018), which showcases groundbreaking moving image, new media and interactive artwork, is inspired by William Smith’s geological map of 1815, which was key in the development of Geology as a science and transformed the way in which we understand the world.

Works include Isaac Julien's ten-screen Stones Against Diamonds, 2015, which draws inspiration from a letter written by Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi and was shot in Iceland's remote ice caves.
